Environments of SMGs

Kuan-Chou Hou (ASIAA/NTU)

To study the environment of high-redshift star-forming galaxy --- submillimeter galaxies (SMGs) --- and their role during large-scale structure formation, we have estimated their cross correlation functions with distant red galaxies (DRGs) and lyman alpha emitters (LAEs) in the COSMOS and GOODS-S fields. We found a $3\sigma$ signal between SMGs and DRGs at angular separation $\theta <$ 5 arcmin in COSMOS and their cross-correlation length is $r_0 =$ 7.2 $\pm$ 0.9 $h^{-1}$ Mpc with fixed $\gamma = 1.8$. However there is no correlation signal between SMGs and LAEs, that is contradictory to the previous studies. Because our fields did not have any galaxy structure, our result may show the common relation between SMGs and LAEs.
